  • Streator Onized Credit Union (SOCU) is offering a bonus of $100 when you open a new checking account. Bonus is broken down as follows:
    1. Set up a debit card and eStatements within 10 days of account opening and receive a $25 bonus
    2. Complete step 1 and complete 25 debit card transactions within 90 days of account opening and receive a $25 bonus
    3. Complete step 1 + step 2 and do one of the following to get a $50 bonus:
      • Add direct deposit within 90 days of account opening
      • Open a new loan ($5,000 minimum) within 90 days of account opening

The Fine Print

  • Checking offer is not available to SOCU members with existing primary checking or those whose previous checking accounts have been closed within 180 days.
  • Business accounts not eligible for this promotion. Employees and members of household are not eligible for this promotion.
  • Checking account subject to credit approval.
  • After you have completed each subsequent step of the checking requirements, we’ll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days of meeting that requirement.
  • Limit one bonus per primary member.
  • If the checking account is closed by the member within six months after opening, we will deduct the bonus amounts at closing.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Our Verdict

A lot of requirements for such a small bonus, especially when you need to open in branch. Even if it’s a soft pull this is probably not worth doing so we won’t add it to our best bank bonus page.
