Chase CSR Pre-Approved Offer Shows “Up To XXX” – What It Really Means

In the past few days, many people have noticed that Chase's pre-approved offers for the Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR) credit card include the phrase "Up To," as seen in this link:

The top ad slot now looks like the screenshot below, with CSR's pre-approved offer listed as "up to 175,000 points".

After clicking "get started", this is what happens:

Does this wording remind you of AmEx? Earlier this year, AmEx started offering sign-up bonuses with "AS HIGH AS" in the name . You have to enter your information first (but there's no hard pull) to see how much you'll get in bonuses. Users like those on this site and US credit card forums, being less than ideal, will basically only see a pitifully low bonus; very few people will ever see the highest bonus. Chase really isn't learning from AmEx's bad example!

When I filled out the information for Chase's pre-approved offer, the result was: " We can't find any offers for you right now." I guess you, the reader of this article, are experiencing the same thing, right?
